Notice how these cowards blocked all forms of communication on their Facebook page. These guys need a real lesson in PR. You don't run and hope the problem goes away. Animal cruelty is the one thing that is never forgotten. EVER. This is going to be a nightmare for you guys for a long time. You should just own up and apologize, terminate that employee (Who has a record of bad conduct in the past), and build relationship again. Instead, you're being cowards. With police relations the way they are, are you really going to just let this go? Terrible, horrible people. You deserve this.
I just read about a cop who shot a dog who was in his own yard. Do you wonder at all why a great many people really don't care that much when they read about cops being shot? That dog was worth 10 of your cops. Keep it up and there won't be any support for the cops any where.
I DON'T KNOW the circumstances of exactly what happened because I wasn't there I don't know if this officer felt threatened or not, even with a dog behind a fence these dogs can be very intimidating. My view is that officers are using their weapons on animals much faster with less consideration of life. I believe that unless a dog is running full speed toward an officer in a obvious vicious manner they should not be allowed to shoot...there is mace for these situations. I walk a lot and have been charged by many dogs just doing their job...I would say at least 30 times in my life...NOT one time have I been bit or jumped on...dog sees I'm not threat and moves on...MY CONCERN IS NOW FOR THE CHILD...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... do something to make up for this for this child apologize ask this child for forgiveness because this child will grow up hating police officers if he doesn't already come from a household that is untrustworthy of police officers and maybe hate them already. there is no chance for this child to see that not all police officers are bad. I assume there are some police officers at this station they disagree with what this person did but they can't exactly stand up and shout that a fellow officer was wrong. But in their hearts they know they would not have done the same thing. It is done. the dog is gone and the pain has been caused and this little boy's birthday has been ruined but it isn't too late for the family to receive an apology. And maybe for the boys to be helped in some way by the police department maybe a scholarship fund or something for him for when he gets older so that he realizes how deeply sorry the police department is for having let this officer do this. This officer also must be retested for handling of his weapon like I said I walk almost everyday for exercise and dogs charge me all the time. For me to kill one of them is just crazy absolute craziness to wield a weapon against an animal unless there are two or three of them 1 dog no matter how big is not a threat to a man. A man could kill a dog with his bare hands much less a gun so I believe that this officer probably should be looked into especially his skills with weapons and his reaction time. I think the people that who should be training officers should be the officers that have never had to raise their weapon to shoot someone and that has been in service for many many years. These are the types of officers that are probably the ones you want coming to help you because if they haven't had to shoot anybody during their lifetime they have probably honed their skills in other directions other than using their gun...
What sort of psychopathic sadistic assholes does this department hire? God help the citizens of Wynnewood!!!!
The following Law Enforcement Oath of Honor is recommended as by the International Association of Chiefs of Police as symbolic statement of commitment to ethical behavior:" on my honor, I will never betray my badge, my integrity, my character, or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will always uphold the Constitution, my community, and the agency I serve" if I'm not mistaken you are suppose to be Guardians of the Peace, not some lying, gutless, ass hole with a gun. This is not just about the officer going above and beyond to murder a dog, this is about the entire breakdown of the chain of command, information gathering, and lack of decency! Look chief it is your job to apologize to the community and at least make it seem like you know this is terrible quality work, but you choose to not be decent enough to pretend that this is problematic to justice. Why don't you grow a pair and be able to say, "we as a government funded agency have failed you and we are sorry." it won't fix the situation but it would make you the kind of man that you are pretending to be. Can you just show some compassion and humility PLEASE!
